an attempt to organize the many files we will be gathering,
I propose the following initial process to help the users of
the freeware identify the purpose of the software, where it
comes from, and who to contact for help.
- For
utilities which involve many files, please bundle the
files together
into a single .tar or .zip file.
- Please
send a file with your product name and a trailing .README,
such as golden.utility.README.
- The
file should also contain the information described later
in this document.

Each
utility will consist of two files. For example:
- golden.utility.tar
or golden.utility.zip; and
-
golden.utility.README
Please
include the .README in the .tar or .zip file. |
PROPOSED
README FORMAT
The
following is a suggested format for the README file.
To
make it clear to people retrieving software from our system
that Raining Data has no responsibility for the software they
are picking up, the suggested format for the README file contains
a warning disclaimer.
