Raining Data Announces TigerLogic XDMS Plug-in
for Sun Service Registry
IRVINE,
CA. - March 2, 2006
Raining Data Corporation (Nasdaq: RDTA) today announced the
availability of the TigerLogic® XML Data Management
Server (XDMS) Plug-in for Sun Microsystems’ Service Registry.
This plug-in allows Sun Service Registry users to take advantage
of the advanced functionality provided by Raining Data’s TigerLogic
XDMS Enterprise Server.
Plug-in
features and functions include:
- Ability
to query XML content in repository using XQuery
- Integrate
heterogeneous data sources
-
Create XML views of disparate information for business intelligence
-
Enable a single source of truth
- Transform,
normalize and synchronize data assets
-
Manage distributed transactions and maintain referential integrity
of enterprise data sources
- Aggregate
enterprise data into a central repository data warehouse
- Federate
enterprise data as a logical or “virtual” data warehouse
The
plug-in adds XQuery support to the Sun Service Registry, which
already supports ANSI SQL-92. “While ANSI SQL-92 can be used
for querying XML and non-XML metadata, using XQuery provides
a simpler and more efficient alternative for handling XML artifacts,”
said Ashesh Badani, group marketing manager for service oriented
architecture (SOA), Sun Microsystems. “The XQuery support offered
by the TigerLogic XDMS plug-in makes it easy to flag violations
and enforce policies, a key requirement of SOA governance.”
“To
achieve a true SOA, there exists the need to manage large amounts
of related business service information consisting of metadata
and business service artifacts,” said Ash Parikh, Director of
Development and Technology- Enterprise Application Group, Raining
Data Corporation. “TigerLogic XDMS provides an optional and
enhanced persistence mechanism for the Sun Service Registry
since the artifacts to be stored in registry are primarily XML-based
and, hence, are best handled by a native XML storage and management
mechanism, which allows for faster data handling, enabling quicker
responses to Web Services requests.”
The
plug-in is freely available and can be obtained along with an
evaluation copy of TigerLogic XDMS, which is required to fully
realize the capabilities of this offering. For more information,
