RAINING
DATA ADDS POWERFUL PALM CONNECTIVITY
TO ITS OMNIS STUDIO DEVELOPMENT SUITE
IRVINE,
Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-March 26, 2001--Raining Data Corporation
(Nasdaq Small Cap: RDTA ), today announced the launch of Omduit,
a new component for its powerful Rapid Application Development
tool, Omnis Studio. This new component will allow developers
to add Palm OS connectivity to both new and existing Omnis Studio
applications.
Omnis
Studio is designed so that developers can produce scalable solutions
for the Windows, Mac and Linux platforms that can be deployed
as traditional client/server applications or via the Web. The
data can come from almost any SQL database, including Oracle,
DB2, Sybase and MS SQL Server and can then be viewed in a number
of different environments including HTML and the unique Web
Client browser plug-in. The addition of the Palm compatibility
has been implemented to extend data access opportunities for
users.
Mario
Barrenechea, Senior VP of Sales & Marketing said, "We are very
excited about this new addition to our technology offerings
that directly addresses the PDA and mobile market place. We
envision a new breed of application extensions that will open
new opportunities for our developer community. Omduit extends
the existing capabilities of Omnis Studio to allow Palm device
users to perform data management functions locally and then
to later be synchronized when the user performs a Hot Sync."
Barrenechea
continued, "Palm is probably the most popular PDA OS on earth.
And our customers should be able to take advantage of this technology
in a broad range of industries. We have created a tool that
offers maximum flexibility in designing solutions but is still
quick and simple to use. We believe that over the next few months
we will see a myriad of new solutions coming from our developer
community. We are encouraging feedback for the next round of
enhancements."
