Inc., the holding company for Pick Systems, in December 2000

or $0.75 per share compared to $4.7 million or $0.48 per share
for the prior fiscal year.
Bryce
J. Burns, Chairman of Raining Data stated, "Our initial
objectives following the acquisition of PickAX were: 1) to take
those steps necessary to reach positive EBITDA and 2) integrate
the two technology teams to rapidly develop new compelling product
offerings. I am pleased to say that we were able to accomplish
both objectives during our first full quarter of operations.
As a result the integration of the two companies has been very
successful"
Mr.
Burns commented further, "As an example of our joint technology
development we introduced mvDesigner at our Worldwide User Conference
in Long Beach in May. This product, which was a result of a
development effort between the two technology teams, has further
validated the synergies between Omnis and Pick Systems. This
product combines the best of both technologies and provides
our large base of customers with Web enabling technology while
preserving their investment in their application".
mvDesigner
is a state-of-the-art rapid application development (RAD) tool
which brings an elegant graphical user interface (GUI) and object-oriented
development methodology to the MultiValue database market. mvDesigner
also simplifies the transition to an event-driven programming
environment for a MultiValue developer while allowing the preservation
of existing investment in business rules (program logic) and
database design. Additionally, mvDesigner applications are easily
deployed to thick, thin, or even ultra-thin client environments.
Mr.
Burns continued, "An additional development accomplishment
since the merger is the availability of mvDesigner for both
the UniVerse and UniData (U2) market spaces. The interest from
Raining Data, UniVerse and UniData customers alike has been
terrific. As an indication of adoption, we have tripled the
number of training classes available to software developers
and system integrators over the next three months and they are
filled to capacity."
"During
periods of economic challenge," Mr. Burns concluded, "many
companies look to leverage their existing IT infrastructure
to improve productivity and keep costs down. mvDesigner absolutely
addresses this need by enhancing and extending the capabilities
of existing applications."
