The Pick Data Provider allows D3®, UniData® and UniVerse® database platform users to take advantage of the .Net Framework by utilizing Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET. A Data Provider in the .NET Framework serves as a bridge between an application and a data source. • Optimistic and pessimistic locking handler
  • Extensions to the event handler to allow pre and post processing of server data files
  • Method extensions for file I/O and updates

AVAILABILITY AND PRICING

Pick Data Provider for .NET is available immediately for early adopters for Raining Data’s D3 database platform and for the UniData and UniVerse (U2™) database platforms from IBM®. Full production release for D3 is anticipated by June 2003. Pricing is starting at $495 per Developer software license and $200 per Database Server Access License.

“The Pick Data Provider for .Net allows Pick and Pick-like database users to leverage their existing application code within the .NET Framework by giving them the ability to deploy solutions within the latest Microsoft architecture with minimal additional development time,” said Carlton H. Baab, President and CEO. “The combination of the Visual Studio .Net development environment with the Pick database technology creates the ability for our existing customers to protect their investment while at the same time leverage the latest Web application and XML Web Services deployment architecture,” added Baab.
